“A man with a gun is a citizen. A man without a gun is a subject.”
― D. Michael Wiechman
I oppose any legislation that further restricts the right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms. New gun control laws that have zero effect on the number of gun related deaths make no sense.
I will propose a rollback of firearm ownership restrictions to those of the pre-WWII era.
I will propose legislation for reciprocal CCW licensing across all 50 states.
I support the passage of a Hearing Protection Act.
I support legislation eliminating import bans on firearms and ammunition for lawful purposes.
The vast majority of gun-related deaths each year are suicides. Two-thirds of the people who commit suicide seek help in the month before doing so.
Doctors are in a unique position to help reduce the number of gun-related deaths each year. Suggesting that patients surrender their firearms for the duration of treatment can have a great, positive impact. Making it simple for someone to do so in a simple, private manner could save thousands of lives each year.
Many people in this situation are not open to that simple solution. Given the maze of gun control legislation, they fear losing their right to keep and bear arms permanently.
I propose a comprehensive review of all gun regulations. Too many current regulations are unenforced, and serve no purpose. We must cut useless and redundant regulations, and simplify existing regulations. Federal agencies will investigate violations of and enforce those regulations that remain.
